    Free Burgers for 8000 minutes!  Jonathan Brewer is our 8,000th Foursquare checkin and wins 8000 minutes of free food.  That’s right, @Brewhouse or Brew checked in this fine Saturday afternoon to find himself the recipient of 133.33 hours, or 5.55 days, or .79 weeks of free burgers here at AJ Bombers.  Not too shabby!  Thanks Brew! :)

    The Brockness Monster What started out as some fun tweeting between the Milwaukee Bucks newest forward/center Jon Brockman this past weekend at AJ Bombers has turned into a welcome party and a fundraiser rolled into to one evening of fun for a good cause.  Please join us @AJBombers this Wednesday to welcome Jon Brockman to Milwaukee.  Of course we’ll be featuring our newest burger creation “The Brockness Burger” that was made especially for Jon’s big appetite, but Mr. Brockman has now upped the ante, BIG TIME!  For every Brockness Burger ordered this week, Jon will donate $10 to the special olympics of Wisconsin.

    Milwaukee Food War - October 13thLast night we were notified that the Food Wars episode featuring the war between AJ Bombers and Sobelmans will air on October 13th at 9pm Central.  We have SO much fun planned you guys, can’t wait to enjoy the show together.   Here’s a photo of the burger that we prepared exclusively for this episode and that we now serve everyday in the restaurant.  The Milwaukee Burger: Double Wisconsin Colby-Jack cheese, double Nueske’s bacon and double Schlitz onions.  All on a Milwaukee made Miller bakery potato roll.  So, so good.     Food Wars in Milwaukee!



    “The rivalry between Sobelmans and AJ Bombers is best described as an old school, established “best burger” in Milwaukee joint, running up against the new school, or new kid on the block, very fast to be declared Milwaukee’s best “new’ burger joint.  I’m telling you, it’s a city divided! And both joints have super vocal and fiercely loyal fans to one side or the other.  The AJ Bombers supporters are a social media savvy bunch, while the Sobelmans fans are a grass roots angry mob, fuming that someone would threaten the title of their precious hangout.”

    So here’s the scoop: the crew from The Travel Channel show, Food Wars will be in Milwaukee from May 6th through May 8th.  Filming one day at each location, AJ Bombers and Sobelmans and a third day at a neutral, to be announced, location for the final taste off. 

    The concept of the show for the Milwaukee war is “The Milwaukee Burger”.  You, the fans will submit what toppings for a burger you believe constitute thee “Milwaukee” burger.  Dave and Joe will pick the best submission and agree to build their own version of that “Milwaukee” burger for the face off!  To be clear, both restaurants will be using their single burger straight from the menu, same beef, same bun, same sandwich that you would be served every day.  They will compete based upon which burger tastes better prepared with the chosen iconic “Milwaukee Burger” toppings. 

    The restaurant that wins Food Wars gets the honor of listing Milwaukee’s best burger on their menu, exactly the way that it was prepared for the competition.  The loser goes home!  Or they can chose to list their losing burger on their menu as Milwaukee’s 2nd best burger.

    Shooting Schedule Update:  Food Wars will be filming at AJ Bombers on Thursday 5/6, Friday 5/7 at Sobelmans and Saturday 5/8 at a “neutral” location (yet to be announced) for the burger face off.

    The Travel Channel hopes to air the Milwaukee episode within a month or so of shooting and expects to highlight much of the city of Milwaukee itself in the episode.

    I know this is old news, but this CNN story about FourSquare keeps showing up in odd places. I couldn’t believe how many local tweeps faces were on the screeen at the same time, and all those tips-todos, amazing.  How’d the Mayor get missed though? Another cool thing is that this story put us in touch with the founders of foursquare and we’re working on some really fun stuff for you guys at AJ Bombers on Foursquare.
